About the Club

Otago Canine Training Club was established in 1964 and is one of the oldest dog training clubs in New Zealand. We have been based at Forrester Park in Dunedin for over thirty years.

We offer basic obedience classes (Canine Companion) for dogs and puppies, as well as competition training for Obedience, Agility, Rally-O, Flygility, and Treibball, and host several official competitions throughout the year. OCTC has a long and proud history of innovation, introducing new events, new dog sports, and new ways of getting things done; a true testament to the dedication and club spirit of our members.

We use only positive training methods based on good communication and lots of rewards. Producing confident, enthusiastic dogs who love what they do is the primary goal in all our undertakings.

We believe dogs have an essential place in society and should be included in that society as much as possible. With that in mind, we promote responsible, considerate dog guardianship to ensure our dogs are enjoyable family companions and great ambassadors where ever they go.
