Basic Obedience Class

What Do You Learn?

  • - how to teach your dog the basic commands – sit, down, stay, heel and come

  • - how to teach your dog to obey quickly and reliably and to ignore distractions

  • - how to solve some of the common problems such as jumping up and excessive barking

  • - how to understand your dog better and communicate on a more effective level

How Do You Teach Them?

Just like people, dogs learn faster and are more willing when they are having fun, so all training is based on positive methods, using rewards and praise to encourage the dogs to focus, learn and obey. Success comes down to commitment and hard work, but just five to ten minutes twice a day can have astonishing results.

What Are The Benefits?

  • -learning how to achieve good control over your dog.

  • -an opportunity to learn more about your dog

  • -a chance for your dog to meet other dogs and develop social skills

  • -improved quality of life for your dog – training provides mental stimulation and good behaviour means your dog can enjoy more experiences with you.

With the skills learnt in class, you can teach your dog anything you want to, from general good manners and tricks to complex commands and advanced work. Once you have graduated from a basic obedience class, you can go on to enjoy any of the club’s other activities – competitive obedience, agility and flyball.
